Lecture recordings and imported files stay on the device by default because they can take up more storage, but you can optionally enable iCloud Drive syncing for them if you want them available across devices.

No. Your content lives on your device and in your own private iCloud database. We have no server that receives it, no analytics tracking how you use the app, and no ads. The only thing that leaves your device is your subscription status, handled by RevenueCat — it contains no study data and isn't tied to your name or email.

Transcription runs entirely on your device, so your audio never leaves it — and it works without a connection. Quality depends on the recording: a clear microphone close to the speaker gives good results, a noisy lecture hall from the back row gives rough ones.

No. You can draw with your finger on iPhone, use Apple Pencil on iPad, or draw on Mac with your trackpad or mouse. Apple Pencil gives the best drawing experience, but it’s not required.
